Look up! Overhead a Pterosaur is searching for its dinner.
Their hollow lightweight bones allowed Pterosaurs to be active flyers, though these same bones left poor fossil record. Most fossils recovered so far have been from lakeshores and marine environments. In fact, the first Pterosaur described in 1784 was thought to be a marine animal that paddled about using its long front limbs. Pterosaurs were not dinosaurus, but reptiles with membranous wings. They did not evolve into birds.
